Sagem Orga and ACL Wireless present Chat & Instant Messaging solutions for mobile phones

Sagem Orga (SAFRAN group), one of the leading smart card suppliers, and ACL Wireless, specialist for mobile Chat & Instant Messaging (IM) solutions, are partnering to provide a Short Message Service (SMS)-based solution that will drive traffic to build carrier revenues through mobile chat and IM.

Instant messaging (IM) and chat are technologies that create the possibility of real-time text-based communications between two or more participants. This possibility is seen as one of the most interesting future trends in mobile communications. According to Informa & Media, there will be 643 million mobile IM users by 2012.

ACL pioneered the concept of accessing Internet IMs from SMS and SIM cards in 2002. The mobile chat & IM solution by ACL Wireless and Sagem Orga offers network operators the opportunity to build customer loyalty and generate revenues from one of the most basic bearer technologies of the phone: the SMS. Since the application can be pre-loaded on all new SIM cards, subscribers eager to use such a feature are be able to access it very easily via the SIM service menu. This would make it available to the largest potential customer base.
