Nawras tastes early success with Mobile Chat Service 'Dardasha'
Oman, September 28, 2007

Nawras, winner of the ‘Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year’ 2007 award, has reinforced its presence in the Oman market with the success of the recently launched mobile chat service ‘Dardasha’.

Launched on August 14, 2007, Dardasha has met with an overwhelming response from the users. In just over a month since launch, the service has generated over 6 million SMS and notched a healthy user base of over 67,000, representing a penetration rate of over 10%.

Powered by ACL’s mobile chat application, “Dardasha” is packed with features such as people search, chat-rooms, interoperability with PC-based messengers and presence based buddy list, amongst others. The service offers great value at just 10 baisa per SMS and is available via the short code 90686 to all users on the Nawras network.

"The 'Dardasha' chatting service has taken off like a rocket," said Yasser al Ameer, Nawras Product Manager VAS and Messaging. He continued, "We are thrilled that our customers are getting closer and enjoying this opportunity to share the community circle of chat, communicating with other mobile users in Oman and even further ahead through MSN, Yahoo and ICQ. The appeal lies in its simplicity and great value, two of the qualities customers have rightly come to expect from Nawras."

Talking about the success Sanjay Goyal, CEO, ACL Wireless, said, "The success of our mobile chat application on Nawras reinforces, once again, the company's vision of building a successful community building service for operators, which works across geographies. ACL has already demonstrated similar success on leading mobile networks across the Middle East, Latin America and India, across multiple access mediums."
