Brasil Telecom GSM selects ACL’s unique Wireless Instant Messaging solution
ACL to provide new communication channel to Brasil Telecom GSM subscribers
November 22, 2004
New Delhi, India, November 22, 2004 - Brasil Telecom, one of the largest telecommunications operators in Brazil has just launched its cellular network along with ACL's Wireless Instant Messenger (WIM) service. Brasil Telecom GSM has introduced the ACL WIB IM Client, which is available to its subscribers in Portuguese at a rate of USD0.05 per message sent. This application is based on ACL's latest offering for Wireless Instant Messaging and is packed with popular features such as login to Yahoo, MSN, ICQ messenger services and Friend finder.
For Brasil Telecom GSM's subscribers, the service is available via interactive menus on the SIM card. The menus, managed by the SmartTrust WIB™ - a SIM-based client allowing the remote configuration of device and SIM settings -, deliver extreme ease-of-use and remove the need for users to open a browser or remember short codes. Mobile solutions provider SmartTrust was selected earlier in the year to provide the infrastructure for the development and launch of such SIM-based services. ACL's Wireless Instant Messenger can be found on Brasil Telecom GSM SIMs at: Menu BrT GSM > Comunidades > Messenger.
"With the launch of this application, we are offering subscribers more features from the phone menu. The application enables the subscriber to chat in real time with friends on mobile phones or PCs, anywhere in the world. Subscribers can add new friends; exchange instant text; quick search for new friends and view their profiles; they can also access intuitive buddy list. This innovative value-added mobile service combines quality, speed and a 'user friendly' experience to help us achieve our target to secure 1.7 million subscribers by December 2005”, said Ricardo Sacramento, President, Brasil Telecom GSM.
Mr. Julian Vincent, Co-Founder & Business Development Director, ACL Wireless Limited said, "We are happy to deploy the Portuguese version of ACL WIB IM Client, which has been customized to suite the local market and to deliver the best IM experience to the end-users. An unique application that addresses all the key challenges and provides users with a superior messaging experience, and in turn enables operators to leverage their network resources to generate more revenues."
